Curveball: When Life Throws You
a Brain Tumor
by Liz Holzemer
Curveball: When Life Throws You a Brain Tumor is the story
of thirty-two year-old Liz Holzemer, a woman who led a storybook
life. Wife of Major League Baseball pitcher Mark Holzemer, Liz was enjoying
a successful career as a journalist when an MRI revealed
a baseball-size brain tumor she soon found out was called ‘meningioma.’
Six years and two brain surgeries later, Holzemer has written a book
about her experience and is now a strong advocate for those who have
been diagnosed with meningioma tumors. She is the founder of Meningioma
Mommas, an international support organization that is primarily Internet-based.
Curveball supports Holzemer’s mission to inform and comfort. Told
with clarity and unwavering humor, this book is an inspirational and
informative account of one woman’s battle for her life. It shows
how she emerged from this frightening diagnosis and two brain surgeries
retaining her remarkable spirit of survival and renewed sense of
purpose and hope.
Recently named one of Woman’s Day magazine’s “Women
Who Inspire Us,” Holzemer has also received several local honors
and awards in her hometown of Denver, Colorado.
